ABOUT PRIYANKA
In early 2018, she launched her venture after working as a software engineer in a small company since her graduation in 2016. Despite finding a job soon after finishing her studies, she felt directionless and unhappy with having to constantly work under someone else\’s supervision. As a child, she had always been independent and followed her desires, so being subordinate didn\’t sit well with her. According to Priyanka, having a mentor is more beneficial than surrounding yourself with negative friends.
A DAILY TASK PRIYANKA DIDN’T LIKE
She and her co-founder were colleagues at the same company, they often discussed the possibility of starting their venture. Meanwhile, when her elder sister got married nearby, her mother would frequently ask her to run errands, such as dropping off or picking up items at her sister\’s place. This daily task left her feeling frustrated, and she began to wonder why there wasn\’t a business that provided this type of service.
One day, while discussing the problem with her co-founder, Priyanka proposed starting a business to address this need. Her co-founder initially thought it wasn\’t a great idea. However, Priyanka was determined to give it a try and started working on the app. When she presented the initial version to her co-founder, he was impressed and decided to pursue it further.
HOW SMALL BAG DELIVERY TOOK OFF
As Priyanka didn\’t have a business background, she initially struggled with how to market her product. However, with the help of her co-founder, who did have a business background, she received guidance and support throughout her entrepreneurial journey. Her determination to succeed proved to be a key factor as well, as she firmly believes that where there is a will, there is a way.
Within the first three months of launching her business, Priyanka faced a steep learning curve, but she persevered. Her app was launched in March, and by October, she had been selected for the NSRCEL Launchpad program at IIM Bangalore, which provided three months of support for Small Bag Delivery. Priyanka was always enthusiastic about her business, and whenever she received an order, she would personally pick up and deliver it while talking to people, showcasing her dedication to her customers.
YOU’LL FACE BAD DAYS BUT DON’T GIVE UP
Maintaining self-motivation is crucial at times, as having a clear goal alone is not always enough to sustain it. When faced with obstacles, it\’s important to push through them rather than give up. Anticipating and preparing for difficult days and even bad years is essential. If you\’re determined to achieve your goal, you\’ll find a way to overcome the challenges that arise.
